Weebly vs Wordpress; Which Is The Best Website Creator?

Weebly vs WordpressWeebly vs Wordpress
Allow me to give you a little of my back story before diving into the whole Weebly vs Wordpress debate. I've been a video producer since about 2002 and needed a site for my business. I cut my teeth on website building with Adobe's DreamWeaver which was so complicated I needed to buy video tutorials to teach me how to use it. I liked all the customizing I could do, but it took me forever to build a site or even update a page. Not fun at all, but that's how I established my business and video production services online.

Later I started looking around for other programs hoping there was something easier to use. I played with a few programs like Coffee Cup and then Wordpress but wasn't satisfied. Then I stumbled on Weebly and its drag-and-drop simplicity. Weebly's interface was a total game changer for me. I toyed briefly with Wix but then ran back to Weebly.

I kept hearing “If you're serious about making websites and blogs, you need to use Wordpress.” 8 of 10 “experts” out there won't even mention another website or blog platform. No one can argue that Wordpress has tons of plugins, countless themes, and other goodies that make it the most recognized blog and website creator in the industry. I concede all of that...but I still use Weebly without a single regret.

I've used Weebly since I found it back around 2009. I've built or manage about 20 Weebly websites, mostly business and marketing websites, and most of my websites rank on or near page 1 on Google for different keywords.
I outrank many of my local Wordpress-using competitors and most of my video production and graphic design business comes from clients who find me online from all over the USA, so I have some credibility about what I'm talking about. You can see several of my active sites on the Weebly Website Examples Page.

End of back story.
Someone described a Weebly vs Wordpress match up like a DSLR camera vs a Point-and-shoot camera. Both can take great pictures. The DSLR camera will give you all kinds of settings and manual controls that a point-and-shoot camera doesn't have. The DSLR camera also comes with a much steeper learning curve so you know what to do with all those buttons and screens. But here's the reality: Most people don't need all those features. To drive this point home think of this: The most popular camera in the world is not a Canon or Nikon. It's an iPhone. And let's keep in mind that it's the skill of the photographer more than the complexity of the camera that captures great photos. The best photographers will also make wise use of other supporting elements like lighting, reflectors, and shot setup. The same goes for your choice of website maker – especially if you plan to make money with your website. Things like list builders, article re-writers and article submission software, social bookmarking and backlinks, videos, and easy to navigate pages with relevant content for web surfers will make your website or blog rise to the top.    See list of helpful tool at the bottom of this page.

Now let's talk about the learning curve of Weebly vs Wordpress. 9 out of 10 people who have used both will tell you Weebly is much easier. Drag-and-drop simple. I speak drag-and-drop simple fluently! Weebly also has a higher “Fun Factor” in my opinion as well. Making a website with Weebly is simply a more enjoyable experience which is a very big deal to me considering how often I add to my websites. The short video tutorial below will show you exactly what I'm talking about.

Some people are going to need all the bells and whistles in a Wordpress platform. In all candor, I wish Weebly had a few more plugins. But these are very minor concessions and Weebly continues to add more options all the time. I copy and paste so many third-party addons anyway that I really don't feel that I'm lacking anything with Weebly.

Please don't discount Weebly just because the “experts” say you need a Wordpress website. My websites rank high on the search engines because I put the work into my sites that anyone with any website maker will have to do. Weebly to me is like an automatic transmission while Wordpress is like driving a stick; If you like to shift, go Wordpress. If you don't or don't need that kind of control, go Weebly. It's not a right or wrong decision; Either vehicle will get you where you want to go. That's how I view the Weebly vs Wordpress debate and why I've chosen Weebly as the best website creator.

By the way, here are some of the tools I use to rank high in search engines. They've impressed me enough to offer them to others who want to build their online presence. Should you see the value in these services and choose to purchase them for yourself, I may receive a commission. This has no influence on the price. It's just their way of thanking me for spreading the word as an affiliate marketer. If I didn't feel they were helpful, they wouldn't be on my list, but they are definitely worth a look!
